Episode 2

Hi! Its Drounz

How has your week been, and how are you today? Well, it has been a long week for me filled with exams and a whole lot of other things. It has been two weeks since I last wrote about my introduction to counting digits. Well, here we are again.

In this chapter, I’ll talk about my recent challenge on UI/UX while on a job I am doing for a friend. In my last episode, I spoke on writing about my story which I started concerning web development cs50 class, and how I moved to where I’m currently at with UI/UX. The journey ehn, e take style long small, but I go try dey gist the tori small small in every episode. You dey ready? Oya na, we move.

To get into this episode, on the 2nd February 2021, I was approached by a colleague of mine who was referred to me by another colleague. He mentioned that he heard I was into UI and said he had an idea about an app he would like to create. I guess that’s the benefit of always putting my work out there for publicity. We spoke about the app which was a Transportation Network Company (TNC) application called “SAFE-RIDE”. For me, this is one of the biggest challenges I have gotten so far, which made me super excited to start working on the project.

The understanding of the term UI/UX is often lost in the UI aspect, that is, in all the aesthetic design and all the awesome colour combination. It is supposed to be a user-friendly navigation process among many other things, that helps the user walk through the app and keeps them comfortable while using the app. To me though, that is one of the last things I work on after I have gotten my colour, choice of frame, corner radius, and set of icons. While learning UI, my previous teacher always mentioned alignment and consistence and it’s importance in design in almost every chance he got the opportunity to emphasize it, and that has remained in my head while trying to choose any form of template or set of icons — because a little off-shaped icon can go a long way on ruining your design. Some basic things I have come to understand out of experience is that, choice of colour is very important in every design, and in as much as choice of colour is important, we can’t just use any kind of colour because its bright or “dope”, it needs to be chosen in accordance to the user or users. In the process of building the UI of this app, we had to change the colour of the company logo to fit what we felt will be more appealing to the users.

I’m currently still working on this project with a friend and we designed the walkthroughs, the introduction, layout, and majority of the project together. When working on a project, no matter how small the project is, when there is a proper and efficient team play, excellent functionality is guaranteed. Its more efficient than a one-man army. I worked on this project with @jermtheory8 on twitter and it has been an amazing experience.

I will love to go into more details about how we came to agreements on what device frame to use, what percentage of corner radius to use, where to place the return arrow and all of that. Maybe when counting the next digits, I will dedicate it to just going into real details about the work process of the app, although you can check out my Behance page for a glance about the app “SAFE-RIDE

This was a short episode 2. Join me while I will be counting the 3rd digits of my personal documentation in the next Ep… before then, check out my twitter @D_rounz. thank you for reading and wear a mask.
